The barbeque get-together was the first of its kind for the choir members, at least to the J1s’04. Both Pei Ying and I volunteered to be in-charge of the food for the barbeque.
All the food was bought on 17th June (To whom it may concern: Sorry guys, I could not make it to buy the food with you all!). On 18th June, the ‘food committee’ met at 12 noon (To Pei Ying: Sorry! I was late) at the Parkway bus stop. There we went for lunch together at Whata Fish under Nicholas Ben’s recommendations (It was my first time buying food there. I ordered Fish and Chips and I thought the fish tasted garlicky). Both Harris and Xiang Rong joined us there. After lunch we went to Pei Ying’s house to marinate the chicken wings for the barbeque in the evening.
We started work immediately when we arrived at Pei Ying’s place. Joy, Pei Ying and Harris washed the chicken wings while Melissa, Nicholas and Xiang Rong skewed the fishballs and sausages. As for me, I was the photographer. *hehe Then we divided ourselves into two groups and began our marinating of the chicken wings. (To Joy, Nicholas and Xiang Rong: Our chicken wings taste better than yours! ;Þ) It was about 3 p.m. when we set off for Pasir Ris. The guys and girls split into two cabs. The cab that the guys were in had a driver resembling Miss Lai, our principal. *hehe
(Psst…it was my first time marinating chicken wings for a barbeque leh!)
We reached Pasir Ris Park at about 4 p.m. When we arrived at Pit B with the food, some of the guys were already playing soccer on the field. Without delay, Howie kor kor started the fire for us. While the fire is being started, some of the choir members (including me) went to the beach for photo taking. (I think my favourite pastime now is to have my photo taken) *winks The fire was ready at about 6 p.m. Just as we were about to start our barbeque proper, the rain clouds came rolling in. We stood together and we stood strong…it did not rain after all!
Food was adequate but there were some feedback that there could have been more variety. (To all choir members who were there: Still, hope you guys had enjoyed yourself as much as I did!) Hmm…we were short of drinks though.
To Pei Ying: Thanks for accompanying me to buy the drinks!
To Harris: Thanks for accompanying me to the *ahem to wash the cups!
I left the park at around 11.30 p.m., ‘longbang’ Xiang Rong’s papa’s car home. (To Xiang Rong and his papa: Thanks soo…much!)
To all choir members who were there: Thanks for making this barbeque possible guys! Love you all!
To the choir seniors: Will miss you all! Must ‘jia1 you2’ for your exams! Take care!
